We are very excited to say that NGA is finally getting the ‘face lift’ it needs, but it does mean there will be some changes to how we operate and how you will fulfil your role. We appreciate these changes may cause you some concern, but we are keen to work with all the NGA staff to make sure they are fully supported through this journey.
1. Will my job be affected by the NGA refurb project?
Yes, all roles will be affected, NGA will operate on a partial opening with limited services, such as a gym and fitness classes, some reception services will be required. Some staff will remain at NGA, and some will be redeployed to other Brio sites close by. The NGA management team will discuss options for remaining and redeploying individually with staff, they will consider personal circumstances and where possible try and cause as little disruption as possible to an employee.
2. What are my re-deployment options?
All NGA ops staff were provided a letter detailing different options available to them, the aim of this was for the staff to have a think about what would work for them, ready for a discussion with their manager:
2.1 Remaining at NGA and working their hours, these may be at different times/ days to accommodate the partial opening.
2.2 Relocating and working their contracted hours at another Brio site, where possible we will aim to relocate to the site closes to an employees’ home address.
2.3 Electing to reduce contracted hours for the redeployment only and either work these at NGA or another site.
2.4 Take a period of unpaid leave for the redeployment only and return to contracted role when re-opens.
2.5 Apply for a vacant role and another site and permanently elect to work elsewhere.Brio will consider all options available and ask the employee to work with us where possible.
3. How long will the refurbishment take?
The refurbishment project is expected to take approximately 12 months. However, please note that this timeline is subject to change based on unforeseen circumstances. We will keep you updated with regular communications regarding the progress and any changes to the timeline. You can opt-in to receive the latest and up-to-date info about the project here.
4. Will I receive training or support if I am relocated to another Brio centre?
Absolutely! You will receive appropriate training for your new site and the NGA management team will continue to support you.
5. What changes can we expect when the refurbished centre reopens?
The refurbishment project aims to enhance the facilities and overall experience for our customers. While specific details are still being finalised, you can expect improvements such as upgraded and new equipment, modernised amenities and a fresh, revitalised space.
6. What happens when NGA re-opens?
All the redeployed staff will be given notice of a return date, they will return prior to site opening to the public, as they will need to be re-inducted and trained up on the new services.
7. Will I return to my ‘normal’ rota when NGA re-opens?
The rota will need to be reviewed on opening, some rota’s may stay the same and some might not, those rota’s that need to be changed will go through a consultation notice. But, as Brio are carrying quite a lot of vacant hours there will be opportunities for returning staff to pick from these first.
8. Will the current staff areas be refurbished as part of the project?
Absolutely! The project includes plans to upgrade the existing staff areas. Our aim is to create a more comfortable environment for our dedicated team members. With these enhancements, we look forward to providing an even better experience for our staff while they are on site.
