About the company
Brio Leisure is a Community Interest Company which was created in May 2011. We’re wholly owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council (stakeholder), and we are a company limited by guarantee. Our original 4-year contract ended on March 2015, and in April 2015, we commenced a new contract term for 15 years. A new model of delivery was agreed at cabinet in November 2020, underpinned by our mission to make leisure accessible, affordable and attractive to the people of Cheshire West and Chester. This new model of delivery will be a key focus for Brio through the rest of the contract term and will change the way we look at delivering leisure services.
Brio Leisure was not created for private gain: any profits or assets are used for the benefit of the community. Any profits or surplus made gets reinvested back into the company.
We aim to benefit all inhabitants of Cheshire West and Chester, and those visiting the county. Currently, this includes the provision of leisure centres, entertainment halls, playing pitches, health and social services, and the promotion of integrated wellness programmes, including weight management, physical activity and smoking cessation. We intend to improve the general wellbeing of the people living in and visiting the area. By providing improved opportunities for all those in the area with affordable, accessible and fit-for-purpose recreational and social facilities, we can take steps towards a healthier tomorrow.
In 2019 we were named the ukactive Outstanding Organisation of the Year and recognised as one of the top 1000 companies in the UK by The Parliamentary Review.
