Meet our Apprentices!2 Jul

Apprenticeships are a great way to secure a qualification whilst you learn, gain experience and get paid at the same time! I spoke to Abi, Brio’s Digital Marketing Assistant and Matt, our Finance Assistant to hear all about their Brio apprenticeship journeys!

Abi Howard

When I started my Level 3 Digital Marketing Apprenticeship at Brio in 2019, I was still unsure of what I wanted to do. This apprenticeship was a fantastic way to branch out my skills and find a job that I was interested in!

My apprenticeship was based around digital marketing principles and focused on building skills around search engine optimisation, email marketing, social media marketing and much more. The training took place in Manchester every couple of months and alongside this, I built up a portfolio that focused on showcasing my new skillset.

Once I finished my portfolio and training, I completed a project which involved applying my new skills before my final interview. After finishing the apprenticeship, Brio employed me full time as a Digital Marketing Assistant which was a great end!

I knew I wanted to continue my training so, I completed various online courses based on developing the skills that I had acquired. I was approached with the option to complete another apprenticeship less than a year later – a fantastic opportunity funded by Brio!

I’m currently completing a Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship, an incredible way to progress from the foundations of the Level 3 course. This apprenticeship focuses on the traditional side of marketing principles, project management, campaigns and more! Due to COVID-19, the training is all online with 1-1 meetings every month.

Matt Crompton

I joined Brio on a Finance Assistant Apprenticeship. I was already studying for my level 2 qualification with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) at my previous place of work but soon decided that I wanted to find a job with hands-on experience. This position with Brio was perfect!

On this apprenticeship, I learnt about the basics of accounting both at work and in college and gained valuable experience in an office environment, as this was my first office position.

During my second year of studies, I built on the strong accounting foundations from my first year and learnt in more depth about purchase ledger, sales ledger and income reconciliation. I enjoyed all aspects of my apprenticeship as I’ve always been a keen learner!

I chose this apprenticeship with Brio as this would help my professional development by allowing me to apply my new skillset in practical ways. I was welcomed into the company by all my colleagues and the finance team were helpful with answering any questions I had. We get on really well as a team!

After I finished my apprenticeship, I secured a full-time position with Brio as a Finance Assistant – fantastic! I have a good knowledge of Brio’s systems and quickly became a valued member of the team. Overall, my apprenticeship experience was enjoyable! I learnt new skills, gained valuable experience in an accounting role and made some great friends.
