is squash an olympic sport?

  • Sports

Squash fans have asked for years whether the sport would ever become Olympic. Despite its global popularity, it hadn’t featured in the Games, until now, with squash set to make its Olympic debut at LA 2028.

This will be the first time squash has featured as an Olympic event, with men’s and women’s singles competitions showcasing the sport on a global stage.

With Olympic inclusion set to introduce squash to a much wider audience, many people will be discovering the sport for the first time. If you’re new to squash or simply want a refresher, we have a separate blog that explains squash playing rules, including scoring, serving, and how the game flows on court.

Another question that often comes up is how squash compares to similar sports. Although squash and racketball are often confused, they differ in court design, equipment, and style of play. We also have a dedicated squash vs racketball blog, which breaks down the key differences for anyone curious about how the two sports compare.

For players and fans alike, seeing squash at the Olympics feels like long-overdue recognition and a very exciting step forward.
