We all have heard how important breakfast is – but do you know why? It’s hard to decide what to eat as soon as you wake up, or is there even time to grab something before you head out to work?
We’ve done the hard work for you and found out why breakfast is essential, and some quick and easy breakfast foods to get your day started!
Why is breakfast important?
Your body needs energy to function and gets this energy from breaking down food or fat. When you wake up in the morning, you usually haven’t eaten since the night before and need to eat to replenish your body’s energy so you can function for the day!
Not only does eating breakfast give your body energy, but also makes sure you get the vitamins and minerals you need for the day too.
Why do we end up skipping breakfast?
There are so many reasons why we miss breakfast – and they can be as simple as just forgetting to have it! Sometimes you can wake up and realise that you don’t have enough time to eat before work, or maybe you didn’t wake up until 12.
You can even not feel hungry in the mornings when you’ve just woken up, but by the time you feel like something to eat, you’re already at work! Or even not having any or not enough breakfast foods in the house can mean skipping your first meal of the day.
How can you remember to eat, or find any time? Just keep it simple!
Start with waking up ten minutes earlier than usual, so you have just enough time to grab something simple! This can be some fresh fruit and a granola bar or heating up some porridge to have in the office when you get there. If you don’t have enough time to make anything in the morning, prepare the night before by making a fruit pot to take on your way out!
