Setting SMART goals!16 Oct

One of the best ways to stay motivated and keep on track to a healthier lifestyle is to set goals. These can be focused on food and diet, or on your exercise routine. Whatever they are, you should make sure they’re SMART! This will ensure you’re focused on making realistic changes that will have a positive impact on your life. Below are a few tips on setting SMART goals.
SMART goals are:
Specific
Don’t be vague! Instead of saying “I want to lose weight”, say “I want to lose 6lbs”. This gives you a definite goal to work towards.
Measurable
By being specific, you can measure your progress. You know how much weight you need to aim to lose each week in order to reach your goal. This works with dietary goals too, whether it’s limiting calories at tea time, or just cutting down on snacks between meals.
Achievable
Be realistic – you’re much more likely to succeed if you make small, gradual changes. If you try to do everything at once and don’t succeed it can be disheartening, which isn’t good!
Relevant
Make sure your goals focus on what you really need to change. These will be relevant to your own circumstances, so choose something you think is important.
Time-specific
This ties in with being specific and measurable, but by making your goals time-specific, it’ll be easier to understand if you’ve achieved your goals.
