It’s the most important meal of the day, so don’t skip breakfast!

You always hear about how important it is to start your day with good, hearty breakfast, but why? We’re all guilty of skipping breakfast, whether because we’re running late for work, taking the kids to school, or we simply don’t think we have time in the morning to eat.

Breakfast really is important though, so we’ve done our research this week and taken a look at the why it’s so important, as well as the healthy breakfast options out there that will set you up for the day ahead.

It helps weight management

Eating a small healthy breakfast will help you fight hunger throughout the morning.There’s no point skipping it and waiting till lunch for your first meal because if you’ll either start snacking before lunch, or you’ll be so hungry by lunchtime that you’ll overeat! Breakfast should keep you satisfied until your lunch break and having regular meals spaced out through the day is what keeps us going!

It boosts your metabolism

When we go to sleep our metabolism decreases, so eating breakfast gives it the kickstart that it needs in the morning. And having a faster metabolism allows you to burn more calories throughout the day too!

It could save you money

Most of us don’t want to skip breakfast but with the morning rush to work many of us will grab a snack or take out coffee on the way. Imagine if you got up that little bit earlier and had your breakfast at home? You could save a lot of money!

Lowers risk of diabetes

People who eat breakfast regularly have a lowered risk of getting diabetes because they’re starting the day by regulating their blood sugar levels. This also means they have a lower risk of obesity which helps lower the risk of diabetes too!

So, there’s 4 top reasons why you breakfast is so important! If time is an issue, there’s plenty of meals you can prep in advance, such as overnight oats, or you can even make mini-omelettes in a cupcake tray and take a couple every morning on your way out of the house.
