5 Steps to Easter Nests!12 Apr

As it’s Easter we couldn’t resist making some traditional Easter nest cakes! These are always super quick and simple to make and are a hit with the kids (and adults!). Check out our simple recipe below and get the kids involved – they’ll love the decorating part too!
Ingredients: Makes 12
100g of cornflakes or rice crispies
250g of milk chocolate of your choice
Mini eggs and/or tiny eggs (we have used tiny eggs that fit better in the nests, you can buy these in the likes of Home Bargains)
Little yellow chicks/bunnies
Icing carrots
Feel free to decorate your nests however you like, we’ve used a bit of everything to give some inspiration!
Method:
Get out 12 paper cases, you may want to line these in a 12 hole cake tin if available to keep them steady!
Break up the chocolate into small pieces and melt in a bowl set over a pan of simmering water, be sure not to let the bowl touch the water and keep stirring until smooth.
Take the bowl off the heat and gradually add your choice of cereal into the melted chocolate and stir until all is coated in the chocolate!
Separate the mixture between the 12 paper cases and create a dip in the nest with the spoon.
Decorate as you wish! Add your eggs, chicks or icing carrots to the nest and leave to set in the fridge for around an hour.
Enjoy your lovely Easter nests, if you make them please send us a picture!
