Participants in our Swim Teacher Training Academy can enjoy flexible working hours tailored to your lifestyle.
On both programmes, you’ll get real world experience of swim teaching and extensive training and mentorship from seasoned professionals.
Starting as a volunteer, your clear and guided path will then progress onto a SEQ Level 1 Assistant course and follow up with a SEQ Level 2 Teaching qualification.

Open to anyone aged 16 and over, the Swim Teacher Academy gives individuals, including students, career changers or parents/carers a chance to learn new skills, make a difference in their community and with a flexible schedule.
Learn new skills, gain experience & make a difference with Rising Stars
If you’re aged 14-16, join Brio Leisure’s Rising Stars to volunteer, learn vital skills and inspire your community through real world swimming teaching experience.
Here’s how you could progress from our Rising Stars, to Swim Teacher Academy and become a fully qualified swimming teacher:
Step 1: Swim Helper
Complete at least 20 volunteer hours within a 12 month period.
Step 2: SEQ Level 1
Become a swimming assistant & complete 40 hours within 6 months to make it to level 2.
Step 3: SEQ Level 2
Once you’ve completed your level 2, you’ll be a qualified swimming teacher.
Step 4: Swimming Teacher
You did it! You’re now a professional swim teacher & ready to teach a minimum of 1 shift per week (min of 2 hours) with Brio Leisure.
