We’re UKactive’s Organisation of the Year!10 Jun

We’re dead chuffed to announce that Brio Leisure has been named the UK’s best health and fitness organisation for 2019!

On Thursday 6 June we travelled to the UKactive awards in Manchester and at the end of the evening, were crowned with the coveted “Outstanding Organisation of the Year” award! It’s a huge achievement to be recognised nationally like this, especially as we’re a relatively small business compared to many!

Judges praised us for our efforts to improve the wellbeing of people across the borough by encouraging weight loss, active living and quitting smoking, along with the wealth of health and fitness services we aim to make as affordable and accessible as possible. We were also recognised for our work on the Swim Local project, and our marketing campaign that increased swimming participation rates compared to the national trend. The Cheshire Change Hub also got a mention too, for the outstanding boost in health and wellbeing for 30,000 Cheshire West residents it’s provided!

Our partnership with the University of Chester and KT Intelligence was also commended, as the research into the social value of health and wellbeing has been a massive success for everyone involved.

Elly McFahn, our Managing Director, was thrilled with the results and had this to say:

“We are over the moon! This just goes to show the dedication, hard work and focus on our customers has paid off. To be selected for this achievement over and above all others is a testament to the level of innovation and customer-focused services we provide. We’re all so proud of being able to make a difference to our borough!”

As well as our own achievements, one of our amazing members, Rachel Williams, was named as one of the nation’s unsung in recognition of her battle against mental illness. You can read her full story here.

She received her award from Derrick Evans, better known as the one and only Mr Motivator! Needless to say, we’re a little jealous!
