How to motivate yourself to exercise this winter16 Nov
The colder months can zap away our motivation, leaving us feeling sluggish, unenergised and uninterested in exercise. Getting out of bed and hitting the gym or going for a walk can seem like a monumental task. But don’t worry, you’re not alone!
We know the idea of exercising in the dark, rain or maybe even snow (once in a while…) may not seem as appealing as your summertime workouts in the glorious heat, so we’re sharing our handy tips to help keep you motivated during these tougher winter months ❄️
1. Find a workout buddy! 👭🏼
Why not lock in a few weekly sessions at a Brio Leisure gym with a friend to keep each other accountable and motivated? If that isn’t an option for you, why not set yourselves a challenge instead? The Brio Leisure app offers monthly challenges, and you could even win a prize!
Having a friend by your side will motivate you to get out of bed and get moving, as will Brio app prizes!!*
2. Plan a POA (Plan of attack) ✍🏼
Make sure you take time out to plan your next week’s workout schedule so there are no excuses. This also saves you from wondering what workout to do that day! Having a direct POA will give you the motivation to keep going instead of convincing yourself that you will start tomorrow instead.
3. Get some vitamin D! 🌤️
Plan a walk in the winter sunlight! We know that the weather is never great in winter, but we still get sunlight exposure during these wintery times. So going for a walk in the day can boost your vitamin D levels making you more energised for the day ahead. Sun cream is always advised…
4. Try out a new workout! 🏋️♀️
Sometimes staying motivated is just about finding what works for you and what you enjoy. Why not try out a fitness class? If you struggle to motivate yourself then a class would be a great option! Surround yourself with like-minded individuals and a class instructor who will help you to keep moving!
Here at Brio Leisure, we offer over 450 weekly fitness classes and with that many classes, you’ve got endless possibilities. Whether you’re into something intense or something a bit more zen, check out our fitness timetables here and book your next session with Brio.
