Today is International Women’s Day, a reason for everyone to celebrate women! Its an annual event celebrated every year on the 8 March. Originally organised by the Socialist Party of America in New York in 1909; we still come together annually to appreciate our women.

1. It’s a stress reliever

Many women love a relaxing soak in the bath after a busy day, and its the same with swimming! Studies have shown being underwater decreases the sensory information that bombards your body, making you calmer and more relaxed.
2. Anyone can do it

Swimming is certainly one of the more relaxing exercises! So whether you’re suffering from an injury, pregnant, or simply looking for a way to unwind, you can exercise without putting too much pressure on your body.

With swimming you develop the ability to effectively use oxygen, this increases your endurance. Swimming teaches control in your breathing, making running easier! Try adding swimming to your weekly exercise regime and see how it helps you improve.
4. It’s great for your overall health

Due to the breathing patterns you use in swimming you move air in an around your lungs all the time! This results in lower blood pressure and lower resting heart rates.
5. It’s easy on your body

Many workouts and ways of exercising can sometimes be a strain on your body. So if you have a hard workout one day and can feel the wear and tear on your body, you can still swim! Swimming is easy on your body which allows you to keep working out without injuring yourself.
