Brio gives Panto season Easter encore

Can’t wait until next Christmas for your next dose of slapstick fun and knockabout musical comedy? Look no further than Northwich Memorial Court this Easter!

With the curtain barely down on the Northwich Memorial Court’s first festive season pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which starred Edwina Currie and former Coronation Street star Bruce Jones, we are pleased to announce a new panto, showing over two nights during the Easter holidays.

This time around it’s Beauty and the Beast and headlining the cast are 80s TV legends Keith Chegwin and Basil Brush, along with Anne Hegerty from the ITV game show, The Chase.

From the same production company as Snow White, the Easter show will be an all-singing, all-dancing and laugh-a-minute ride!

The plot surrounds a girl called Beauty, who lives a provincial life with her father until a terrifying Beast takes her captive. It’s left to Village Idiot ‘Cheggers’, his mother and the mysterious Fairy Tale to save the day.

The production at 6.00pm on April 7 and 2.00pm and 6.00pm on April 8 is perfect for young audiences and families looking for activities during the school holidays. You can book your tickets online here.

Phil Harding, our Entertainments Manager, said it was wonderful to see Cheggers back on the Northwich stage.

“Keith actually appeared at the old Memorial Hall in the 80s when he was very well known for his Cheggers Plays Pop series, so it will be great to catch up. In fact, some of the audience who may have been youngsters then, may well be bringing their own children this time around,” he said.

And the thinking behind another pantomime?

“We’ve carried out lots of research into the type of show families want us to stage at the Northwich Memorial Court and pantos scored very highly. We had a similar type of show Hubbard’s Cupboards, starring Northwich panto favourites Steve Moorewood and Ryan Greaves, during the February half-term, so there’s lots of panto fans in Mid Cheshire!”
