Winsford Conferencing

Set in the heart of Vale Royal, Winsford is fast establishing itself as a thriving centre for business in the North West.

Situated on the River Weaver the town was initially around the salt mining industry after the river was canalised in the 18th century, allowing freight to be conveyed northwards to the Port of Runcorn on the River Mersey. The Winsford Rock Salt Mine remains to this day the UK’s Largest, and is one of only three places where rock salt is mined in the country. Opened in 1844 it is claimed by its operator to be Britain’s oldest working mine.

In more recent times the town has become home to Winsford Industrial Estate. This pioneering estate was the first industrial estate in the UK to become a Business Improvement District (November 2005) and is home to a variety of different businesses and offers excellent links to the North West, Midlands and Wales.
