Ultimate Cheatsheet for… Metafit!

Metafit. Even the name sounds tough, doesn’t it? Make no mistake – this is a hard workout, but one that will reward you for your effort. Read on to find everything you need to know about it.

What is Metafit?

Metafit is one of the Interval classes we run here at Brio Leisure.

It’s an example of High Intensity Interval Training – you’ll be doing quick bursts of exercise punctuated with short rest periods to ensure you’re constantly pushing your body to its limits.

Classes run for 30 minutes, although the actual Metafit workout (excluding warm up) runs for 18-24 minutes depending on the release (version) your instructor is doing.

What do you do in Metafit?

Sweat. A lot.

In those 18-24 minutes you’ll be doing, a variety of non-choreographed bodyweight exercises, such as burpees, mountain climbers, squats, push up variations, skaters and more. You’ll see more in the video below.

You’ll do a short set of 20 seconds or so, putting in maximum effort, before resting for another 10 seconds. Exercises and set length will change throughout the routine, keeping you on your toes!

What are the benefits of Metafit?

The short bursts of intense exercise will help raise your resting metabolism rate to ensure you burn calories during and long after the class is complete.

Another of the more practical benefits is the length of the class. If you struggle to fit exercise into your day, a 30 minute Metafit is a great way to get a really intense, tough workout without taking up too much of your time!

What do I need to know before my first Metafit class?

We absolutely love Metafit here, but it’s important to know that it can be a tough one. We recommend letting your instructor know that it’s your first class, as they’ll be able to show you less intense options for every exercise. This means if you’re struggling then you can switch to these to make things a bit easier. These options also mean the class is suitable for any fitness level, as you just go at the pace you can, doing the exercises that you can.

You’ll also need a drink (make the most of those rest periods), and we recommend bringing a towel too!So, that’s everything there is to know about Metafit! If you’ve not tried it before then take a look at our timetables and book a class online now.
