Take your next step and be an Everyday Hero!

Got your A-level results today, or are you waiting on your GCSE results next week? If you’re starting to look at part-time jobs then you should consider joining the Brio family as a Leisure Attendant!

We’re always looking for bright, enthusiastic people to join the family as Leisure Attendants! Leisure Attendants are the people in the yellow tops and red shorts you’ll have seen in our centres. They’re responsible for setting up the centre for the various activities throughout the day, and are also the lifeguards that ensure your safety when you’re in the pool. The Royal Life Saving Society calls them Everyday Heroes, and we’re inclined to agree!

The role is perfectly suited to those that have recently left full-time education, as it’s rewarding, challenging and provides ample training opportunities to break into the exciting world of leisure! If you’re still in education though, then we also have lots of part-time vacancies too which are perfect for fitting around your studies! We offer competitive rates of pay too, so you can even start helping out mum and dad by throwing a bit of rent money their way, if you really want to!

That’s not all though, we’ve made a quick list of the top 5 reasons you should consider a career as Leisure Attendant with us!

1. Variable hours

Our centres are open from 6.30am until 10.30pm, so there’s plenty of shifts available throughout the day! This lets you fit work around your other commitments, such as any further education you may be doing. If you just plan on working part-time with us while you find your dream job, then early shifts will also prepare you for the realities of working life!

2. Staff Membership

A perk of being part of the Brio family is a staff membership! This will let you get fit with us for free and includes use of the gym, swimming pool, racquet sports and fitness classes. As an added bonus, family members living in the same household as the employee also get a big discount on their membership – something to remember, Mum and Dad!

3. Camaraderie

As mentioned, we like to think of ourselves as one big family! Leisure Attendants enjoy a great sense of camaraderie as part of the role, as they work together so closely as a team, and it’s a great environment for making new friends. Leisure Attendants are also vital in ensuring customers are safe, so there’s a lot of responsibility. You can take great pride in your work knowing that you’re helping people exercise safely!

4. Training opportunities

Our Leisure Attendants all hold the National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification. If you already have this, then fantastic! Simply visit our Vacancies Page to find out how you can apply to work for us. If not, then contact our HR Team to find out when the next training course is. As well as the NPLQ, we provide refresher training courses, and also training on other areas of the business. You can also train in other areas of the business too – for example you might want to transition into being a Swimming Teacher to improve your experience and earn some extra money!

5. A great working environment!

We operate leisure centres – these are fun places! Instead of being stuck behind a counter selling shoes, or dealing with drunk customers at a bar, you’ll be working in a great environment full of people passionate about getting active.

So, whether you’re looking ahead to 6th Form or college, or you’re leaving full-time education entirely, it’s well worth considering joining us a Leisure Attendant!

If you’ve already got an NPLQ qualification then head over to our Vacancies page and see what’s going on. If you’ve not got one yet, or you’d like to know about potential vacancies at any of our other pools then just pop a quick email over to recruitment@brioleisure.org and our helpful HR team will give you some guidance on what to do next!
