Brio Leisure Fitness Tips - Shoes, shoes, shoes!

Replace your running shoes (not your knees)!

To avoid injuries, write an “expiration date” on your shoes as soon as you buy them. Shoes last about 500 miles, so simply divide 500 by your average weekly mileage to determine how many weeks your shoes are likely to last.

Are you wearing the right spinning shoes?

Cycling shoes are specifically designed to produce maximal force on each pedal stroke through a tough, often carbon fibre, sole. This will eliminate any unnecessary flexion of the sole of the foot, which would subsequently waste the output of power. Wearing running shoes or flexible trainers will result in the loss of power output.

Class-specific footwear will benefit you if you’re taking three or more classes a week
